Electrocoating is a highly automated process in which paint is electrically deposited onto a metal substrate. The process offers precise control of film build at thickness below 1 mil and overall application efficiencies in excess of 90%.

Valspar offers the broadest range of electrocoat technologies available.

Our VECTROCOAT anodic products provide excellent low cost decorative coatings. Although the performance expectations are moderate, the VECTROCOAT products far surpass the corrosion protection of all other commercial anodic products.

For applications requiring a combination of corrosion protection and UV resistance, Valspar has the solution. Valspar’s unique cathodic acrylic technology permits our VECTROGARD (700) series to be custom formulated to offer superior corrosion protection while still providing gloss retention in a single coat for outdoor applications. The products also provide excellent intercoat adhesion for applications requiring topcoats.

Valspar’s automotive approved VECTROGARD (900) series cathodic epoxies provide maximum corrosion protection for single coat functional applications and excellent primer properties for applications requiring topcoat compatibility.

Without exception Valspar electrocoat products have been formulated with the objective of minimizing the total actual applied cost of the coatings.

The throw power and application efficiencies of VECTROCOAT and VECTROGARD products lead the market. Our anodic products provide excellent hiding and performance at film builds well below 1 mil. The superior throw power of our cathodic epoxy products yields lower average film builds and minimizes the application of excess paint.

Additionally, all our products have been designed to run in a closed loop process. As a result, the need for tank side additions of solvent or additives has been eliminated. This has also minimized the need for wastewater treatment from the electrocoat system.
