Valspar Names Anthony L. Blaine Senior Vice President - Human Resources

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA - The Valspar Corporation (NYSE:VAL) announced the appointment of Anthony L. Blaine as Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Blaine reports to William L. Mansfield, Valspar's President and Chief Executive Officer. He replaces Gary E. Gardner, who is retiring after more than 27 years of service to Valspar.

Blaine joins Valspar from the MeadWestvaco Corporation, a global producer of consumer packaging, office products and specialty papers and chemicals headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Blaine served MeadWestvaco as Vice President of Corporate Human Resources and prior to that as Vice President, Human Resources and Organizational Development for its printing and publishing papers business. Prior to joining the Mead Corporation, Blaine held a series of increasingly responsible human resource leadership roles with TRW Inc., Briggs & Stratton Corporation and Ventra Group Inc., where he served as Vice President of Human Resources for the corporation.

Blaine earned his Masters in Business Administration from Arizona State University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communications from the University of Michigan in Flint.
